Wasatch Front...and Back

Our last few days in California, J took charge of the boys so I could run the So Cal Ragnar. These pictures are all courtesy of my sister-in-law, whose first Ragnar (and not the last) this was.

We started at 6:45 AM on Friday morning in Huntington Beach:

Here's Alisa finishing up her first leg,

the merman we saw along the way,

me finishing up my first leg (too bad I didn't have a camera on me during the run; you could've seen pictures of the homeless people sleeping under the bridges I ran past),

waiting to begin our second legs (a sassy bunch of women, if I do say so myself),

a beautiful sight we saw along the way (and we did thank him for running with his shirt off),

another beautiful thing we saw,

and our tats, taken at the finish line on Coronado Island.

It was beautiful, hard, hot, sleepless, exhausting, and fun fun fun! Our van was so much fun, and our team's van 2 was awesome (thanks to Valerie for filling in 3 days before the race!)! Thanks especially to my sweetie who crammed all three boys in the back of a mid-size sedan and played single dad for a day and a half so I could go exhaust myself on the race course and be completely useless for a few days following!
Can't wait for Wasatch Back!

Moab, Part the Last

On Sunday after breakfast, we bid farewell to Mom & Dad Kim and headed out of Moab. Our plan was to drive straight home, but we decided to go to Arches one last time. We are glad we did. We hiked the Delicate Arch Overlook trail. The day was beautiful and perfect!

On our way out of Arches, we took this little dirt road. After all, we couldn't take the FJ to Moab and not take a dirt road! That would be shameful!

Going to Moab was a great way to spend Spring Break. We'll definitely go back for more.

Spring Break in Moab, Part II

We fell in love with Arches National Park on our second day in Moab.

We visited Broken Arch

And Sand Dune Arch.

On Saturday Grandma Kim, the monkeys, and I hiked the Windows Trail.

Then we drove to Wall Street...

...to watch G Kim and J do this:

That night we took a Jetboat up the Colorado River and then had a Dutch Oven dinner. A great vacation!

Funny Weather

Monday was a beautiful day. Here are the little ones sharing an apple snack.

I went on two runs that day. The Bonneville Shoreline Trail kicked my butt in the morning, but at night I went three miles with a friend down and back up a hill. I had to do something to redeem myself from the abysmal morning run.

The boys found an anthill up the street...

J came out in the afternoon to draw a picture of his happy place.

Concentrating on getting there...

The next day it rained. Before the picture washed away, it looked like this. Pretty neat.

And Wednesday, the first day of Spring Break. I dropped off the van at the dealership for some maintenance and repairs and then ran 4 miles home in the rain and snow with a friend. We even threw a hill in for good measure.

The boys played well inside for most of the day. When things got contentious, we went outside to shovel snow.

We had chili for dinner. It seemed appropriate for the cold day.
