I knew I was a mother when...
I picked my infant baby's nose with my bare fingers when no tissue was available.
I ate saliva-y left-overs without a second thought.
I held close a vomit-y boy when he was sick.
I wore my son's work-of-art pin/hat/etc. proudly in public.
And today, I knew I was a mother when I heard the words, "I hate you!" yelled at me during piano practice.

BOO!! Everytime my kids say that, I think back to how many times I said it to my mom. That is definitely the 'no fun' part of being mom. Sorry--hope it didn't last too long.
Erin, it didn't bother me too much today. It's like a right of passage!
I am just glad we are all in it together! I am so sorry! If only we didn't have to learn the hard way, do it and then in turn experience it :(
Shoot! Your post did make me laugh though. I haven't hit this right of passage yet, but I'm sure I will!
I've heard that SO many times!
Great post! I'm right there with you in the real momhood. Especially since the day that Hyrum decided to punctuate his "I hate you" with "you're a fool!" Good times.
